Using the most recent designs of VM endplates with machined mounts for this system, completely shield any VM flywheel and clutch assembly 360 degrees with 0.25" thick seamless, extruded, 6061 Aluminum tubing.
The enclosure system allows for more exotic mounting options of the engine block. (One is able to rotate the engine freely about the crankshaft centerline while keeping legal shielding independent from the chassis.)
Shielding can be kept with the engine allowing people to change engines very quickly by removing less hardware.
This package is comprised of an adaptor plate that attaches to your VM endplate and mounts the 12" OD flywheel shield.
This plate is very strong and we have it available in 0.500" thick steel or 0.625" thick aluminum.
The flywheel shield is a welded assembly of 12" OD tube and a rear plate to the rear of the flywheel. We refer to this assembly as the flywheel cup. The flywheel cup has been cut for starter access and timing tape/pointer access through a removable window in the side of the housing.
The flywheel cup serves as a mount for the 8" OD clutch shield which is the final major component to the enclosure system. Our standard length is 5" of tube, but we can cut any length requested and make make clearance cuts for the throwout arm of the large VM clutch system.
NOTE:
User may have to make clearance cuts or modifications to your current timing pointer or your cam pin mounting bracket on the flywheel side of Kohler K series engines in order to mount the adaptor plate.
You may have to make clearance cuts to your frame or chassis to accept the 12" OD flywheel cup mounted by traditional methods.
